Understanding the Growth Behavior of Processed Food Consumption with Working Mother in Indonesia

The purpose of this study was to study the description of the social, economic, and demographic characteristics of households consuming processed food in Indonesia and to study the effect of the mother's working status and the social, demographic and economic characteristics of the household (education, age, income, area of residence, number of people living). household members, the presence of housemaids or other household members who take care of the household, and the presence of children under five) on the consumption of processed food in Indonesia.
This study is a quantitative study using secondary data sourced from the results of the March 2016 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS). The research design of Susenas is cross sectional data. Susenas is one of the surveys carried out regularly every year by BPS with a household approach. This study uses an analytical tool, namely descriptive analysis to test hypotheses and answer the research objectives that have been set.
The results showed the mother is the person who plays the most role in managing the household, including choosing and preparing food for consumption by household members. How the mother manages the time in preparing food at home will also determine how much a household will consume ready-to-eat food or not at all. Working mothers have time constraints in preparing food at home, because the time that should be used for household activities at home is used for work
